Congressman Charles Rangel seemed determined to admonish NBC News Capitol Hill Correspondent Luke Russert. Rangel is yet another crusty, old curmudgeon in a growing list of Washington politicians that are giving credence to the call for term limits. It must be the comfort and confidence that comes with serving multiple terms in office that leads these politicians to think that they are not only making laws for the good of America but are above the laws they are making.

Rangel is set to be the potential spoiler for the Democrats. While the Democratic party attempts to voice their agenda it will be overshadowed this week when the House Ethics Committee outlines charges against the Congressman. To add further insult there could be a possible trial this fall putting a bad light on the Democratic party just in time for the upcoming elections.

Let’s not forget House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s declaration of “draining the swamp” and “perhaps it will take a woman to clean the U.S. House.” Words she will have to chew on when it comes to cleaning out dust-ball Charlie Rangel.

It appears that Congressman Rangel may be the gift to Republicans that will keep on giving right on through to November.

Those that are responsible for releasing a menace on society must bear the moral burden when clemency kills.

Four police officers were gunned down and killed last Sunday morning representing a tragedy that should never have happened. Maurice Clemmons specifically targeted the Lakewood officers inside a local coffee shop south of Seattle, Washington. This convicted felon had a long history of living outside normal civilized society.

Granting clemency is a failure in judgement on all individuals involved. There are many people that invest a lot of valuable time in order to convict a felon. This would include members of the jury, prosecutors, the judge and a myriad of others that support the judicial system.

Mike Huckabee as Governor of Arkansas had an obligation and responsibility to keep Maurice Clemmons behind bars. He demonstrated utter disregard for the public safety in which he was entrusted. There is no amount of defense, no comforting apologies or flowery rhetoric that will disguise this irresponsibility that he so blatantly chose to support.

Why are criminals released under the false pretense that they have been rehabilitated, that they are now nice and no threat to society whatsoever? The list is long of parole boards and governors releasing criminals only to have them prey on society with robbing, raping, and murdering the innocent in the name of giving someone a break.

This was Huckabee’s downfall during his last Presidential bid. Either you’re tough on criminals or you feel sorry for them and grant clemency. Is now a good time to mention Wayne DuMond? Another criminal from Huckabee’s clemency campaign who went on to rape and murder Carol Sue Shields in Missouri.

Mike Huckabee’s past is coming back to haunt him over and over. This effectively seals his fate from ever running for public office again. Any political aspirations are history. Not even Chuck Norris will be able to pull him from this precipice.

The question now is how many more innocent victims must fall prey to clemency releases?

Maurice Clemmons is now dead. Shot to death by a police officer trying to apprehend him. For all you bleeding hearts that swoon over criminals, if there had been no clemency in Clemmons case he would still be sitting safe and sound in an Arkansas prison receiving his three hots and a cot. The rest of us will have to be satisfied that he received a just punishment and millions of dollars, so they say, will not have to be spent on death penalty appeals.

A white supremist, a tragic shooting and murder. The place was the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC where this cowardly act of violence was carried out among innocent visitors. Should there now be some consideration to permanently closing the Holocaust Museum? Afterall, it provides a physical location where people that hate can vent their frustrations. Is this not a focal point for hate-filled anti-semitics and neo-nazis?

While we’re at it let’s close down all abortion clinics. Isn’t this also a physical focal point for those that are pro-life? Some would say it’s a place of death, a place to protest, a place to bomb, a place to attack employees that work there. Closing them down would eliminate the temptation of acting out irrational behavior.

Should we close down military recruiting centers? These are targets of opportunity for those Muslims that hate military members and blame them for U.S. armed forces action in the Middle East. No recruiting offices, no areas of contention.

This same line of logic is driving the President’s reasoning for closing the Guantanamo Bay prison. According to Barack Obama Gitmo is being used as an Islamic extremist “rallying cry” for recruiting fellow jihadists. Therefore, if we remove it those sentiments will disappear. This is not the case and there should actually be a strong message that states Guantanamo Bay prison is open for business. It should serve as a reminder and warning for those that attack the interests and people of America. When you attack us you do so at your own peril and could very well find yourselves the long-term residents in this facility. It’s called a deterrent.

There will always be people that will use anything as a symbol for promoting their aberrant behavior. Bold leadership is required to ensure that these miscreants understand such conduct is inexcusable and that they will not be rewarded with appeasement but tough and decisive punishment.

The Holocaust Museum is a symbol that should remain open as a reminder to the world. A permanent memorial to the innocent and a stark rebuke of man’s inhumanity against humanity.
