America has always been known as the land of plenty – but there is no longer plenty of money. After decades of frivolous and wanton spending by fiscally irresponsible politicians who needed to placate their campaign donors while building a personal political treasure chest the money is gone and horrendous debt has taken its place. Gone are the days of carefree living when money just seemed to flow in from the heavens and Uncle “Sugar-Daddy” Sam’s pockets were filled with cash. The money is gone and Uncle Sam is pulling out nothing but pocket lint. What is it that some people don’t understand? Once again, there is no surplus money.

How did we get to the economic situation we are faced with today? Before passing blame it’s important to understand that we are all complicit. Politicians did not vote themselves into office. We the voters put them in there and in some cases continue voting into office the same irresponsible and incompetent spendthrifts that have gotten us to this point in time. Americans must do their homework before heading off to the voting booth during elections and not make “blind” choices. It’s very easy to research candidates in this age of internet access with a plethora of resources that can help voters make an educated vote.

Earmarks that funnel money back to pet projects in home districts, the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac debacle, stifling government regulation over businesses, no oversight on entitlement programs, bailouts to corporations and an out-of-control tax system are just a sampling of how politicians have systematically broken the financial back of America. This insatiable desire to spend the taxpayers money permeates throughout local, state and federal government in America. After decades of wasteful spending the country is broke. No amount of taxpayer money is going to fix the problem until the spending is under control.

There are many struggling to come to terms with the concept of America being in debt and refuse to accept that they can no longer have their slice of entitlement pie. Now is the time to tighten the financial belt and if you are not willing to support this then you are part of the problem.

With the signing of the bailout and stimulus bill packages American citizens have had enough. A non-partisan grassroots movement has formed to bring attention to and protest government spending. Hundreds of Tax Day tea parties were scheduled in cities across the nation today. Those that file taxes are well aware of the abomination of the American tax system. It’s a problem that affects all political persuassions. The government has a trillion dollar debt now firmly ensconced on the backs of hard-working, tax-paying Americans.

Have you had enough of big government with state and federal political leaders engaged in out-of-control spending and unable to bring you a balanced budget?

“Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive”
~Sir Walter Scott

The art of deception is palpable in Washington these days. The blame for the corporate bonuses is being passed around like a Superbowl football. What started as feigned rage over these bonuses has now become an exercise in back pedaling. Politicians are getting caught up in their lies and deceipt. Blame lands on one and is deflected on to the next.

Orchestrating America’s anger toward AIG was actually a ruse to divert attention away from the true culprits – the Obama administration and Congress. These corrupt, irresponsible and incompetent politicians used our money as bailout payback for their campaign contributions. The eloquent hyperbole they use to dig themselves out of their lies would be amusing if the problem wasn’t so serious.

CEO Edward Liddy is earning $1 a year for his service to help repair AIG. Maybe Obama should exhibit true leadership and only accept $1 a year for his service after bearing all the blame for authorizing the loophole that did not prohibit bonus money from the bailout bill. And like the new bill being proposed to tax corporate bonuses, let’s not forget to tax that one dollar 90 percent. When the on-the-job leadership skills improve the compensation will also.

Barack Obama continues to remind us that he inherited this problem when he took office. That’s right, the Democrats have been in power for the past two years. Thanks for the reminder.

Insurance company AIG received $170 billion federal bailout money and now they intend to pay out $160 million in bonuses. Edward Liddy, AIG chairman, claims these bonuses are necessary to attract and retain the best and brightest. This would lead one to question why the company needed a bailout if the “best and brightest” were in control. If they don’t get a bonus isn’t it possible they would go to another company that gives bonuses and improve that company’s performance? Is this not they way capitalism is supposed to work? If so, bailouts are really unnecessary. Good companies excel and bad companies fold thereby allowing the normal evolution of capitalism to continue. When outside bailout money is introduced into the economic system doesn’t this disrupt the normal flow of private profit and provide a false sense of revenue?

There is now misplaced anger. Congress would have the average American believe that we should be angry at AIG. Let’s not forget who authorized this bailout money – it was Congress, it was a mistake. Average Americans had no say in the matter. Congress has interrupted the normal flow of economics. Instead of allowing failing companies to fail the United States Congress has propped them up with billions of dollars. There were no stipulations placed on these companies as to how they were to spend this money. Our money was given away freely, without reservation and no prerequisites as to how the billions would be used. Congressional politicians are now incensed with their loss of control over these incompetent companies. AIG is no different now than before the bailout. Why should anyone be surprised or angry with the company bonuses?

The American voter’s wrath should be channeled in the appropriate direction – an irresponsible Congress.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in Egypt today to hand over $900 million dollars in aid to the Palestinians. That’s right, the same Palestinians that were dancing with joy and celebration in the streets after the 9/11 attacks on our country. This is not extra money, this is our hard-earned taxpaying money that will go toward our enemy’s coffers. State Department spokesman Robert Wood told reporters that none of the money would go to Hamas, considered a terrorist organization. Yet, the Palestinian Authority allows Hamas to launch rockets from Gaza into Israel.

It’s simple – if you harbor and provide a sanctuary to terrorists then you are a terrorist.

The fox is in the hen house disguised as a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The liberal left hand is in the cookie jar. The Obama Administration has been given the blank check and is rolling in the dough. We will now feed the government sacred cows from the billions of dollars of pork earmarked in the stimulus bill. You pick the metaphor. Obama’s agenda of extreme liberalism is hell-bent on achieving socialism in the name of democracy.

It’s bad enough that the Obama administration is putting America into exorbitant debt, now we have Joe Biden in charge of it. Obama proclaimed, “nobody messes with Joe.” Are the inmates in charge of the asylum? Yes. Is this the generated crisis that Joe was talking about during the campaign when he said we would be tested? It would appear we are now going to have to “gird our loins” from Joe Biden. Wasn’t it Joe that said Obama was not ready to be President? Yes it was.

Because of Barack’s inexperience and now that Joe is in charge will Barack Obama be cast as Joe Biden’s puppet as George Bush was lampooned as Dick Cheney’s puppet? Doubtful.

At Recovery.gov you can find out how and where your money is being wasted, I mean spent.

The bailout snowball is rolling downhill and getting bigger and bigger. Now the Obama Administration feels a need to bail out bad mortgages. Once again responsible Americans are having their hard-earned money go towards the irresponsible. Not that irresponsible people are bad people but they have made bad choices. Is there anyone who hasn’t made a bad choice in their life? Well, no, but, when you do you must suffer the consequences of that bad choice, learn from that experience, move on and don’t repeat the same mistake. When you are on the receiving end of a bailout you don’t learn your lesson from having made a bad choice unless you read into it that mistakes are rewarded.

Maybe that’s the message Obama wants to send. Don’t forget who bailed you out. Hmmmmmmm…

The same day Asian share prices fell after Japan announced its economy has suffered its worst downturn since the 1970s oil crisis, Japanese Finance Minister Shoichi Nakagawa appeared wasted at his G7 press conference in Rome. This came on the heels of U.S. President Barack Obama’s trillion dollar stimulus package expected to be signed into law Tuesday in Denver, Colorado. It would be the largest spending bill ever enacted by the U.S. Government to try and jolt the country out of its own economic calamity.

It was no accident that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made her first overseas trip to Asia to court the countries that are holding many of the United States I.O.U. slips. Undoubtedly, this new bill touted by Obama which is supposed to stimulate the economy will only bury us further into debt with these Asian nations who, by the way, are not our friends.

When it is all said and done, the only thing left to be said is “Hey, Shoichi, quit hoggin’ the bottle!”

If this economic stimulus bill was indeed a bill for the people then lawmakers should have allotted enough time for it to have been reviewed by the people. An arrogant and pompuos few decided they knew what was best for all Americans. There is no member of Congress who has claimed to have read every word of this bill. It rewards irresponsibility and bad decisions. The responsible and good decision makers will bear the brunt of this bill. Democrats are doing what they do best – throwing money at a problem hoping it will get better or go away. There are no guarantees.

The arrogant and pompous Senator Schumer claims the American people don’t care about billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I’ll thank you not to speak for all Americans. Obviously your constituents don’t care – they keep voting you into office! Only the misinformed and ignorant would claim not to care about wasteful spending. Tell us Senator, what else is it that Americans don’t care about?
