It seems the White House is now going to track “dissidents”. It has provided an email on the White House blog for snitching on your fellow Americans.

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
~White House Blog, Tuesday, August 4th, 2009 AT 6:55 AM

Senator John Cornyn is watching our backs and has vehemently voiced his disapproval of this latest White House policy in a letter to Barack Obama.

“I am not aware of any precedent for a president asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed ‘fishy’ or otherwise inimical to the White House’s political interests”
~Senator John Cornyn in a letter to the President

There is the accusation that people showing up for townhall meetings on health care reform are mobs organized by the “right wing extremist base”. This is further evidence of the ploy being used by Democrats to denigrate average Americans that have legitimate anxiety over the Obama health care policy. Is that next? Will people start reporting someone that spoke out during a townhall meeting? Is this the first step in controlling free speech? This would appear to be more of a Chicago thug approach to quelling opponents.

Now what exactly comes under the heading of “seems fishy”? Does that mean if you are completely satisfied with your current medical care coverage and express concerns that you distrust the government to control the medical care system you are somehow being subversive and need to be tracked by the White House?

If so, report me to the White House.

This past week we witnessed Barack Obama descending from demigod down to human being. While on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Obama made an impromptu, non-teleprompter remark regarding his bowling skills being “like Special Olympics or something.” He apologized to Special Olympics Chairman Timothy Shriver in a call from Air Force One. The President learned a lesson about his right to free speech – it’s not free, it’s fraught with consequences. He had to pay for his choice of words with humility.

There is currently a Special Olympics campaign underway to end the use of the “R-word.” This would fall into the same category as the N-word, S-word, F-word and so on. In a country that used to take pride in our First Amendment, freedom of speech, it would appear odd to ban or end the use of any word. To use these words merely demonstrates the character of those that would use them. So, in essence, we ban the person that uses a particular word or words. Remember Don Imus for example. Do we really require a ban on the use of a word? Can we wipe it out so that it eventually is never used again or relegate a word to purgatorial obscurity. Maybe. But not as long as a particular group considers it acceptable to use a word while insisting the same word be unacceptable for another group to use.

This raises a question. When did this country become a nation of wimpy, spineless, shrinking violets at the mere utterance of a spoken word? How did we adopt this milquetoast mentality? There is an old childhood phrase that seems to have gone out of vogue,”sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me.” What happened?

It’s time to toughen up America. If we cannot stand up to a word then we really do have big problems in this country.

Camille Paglia on Obama vs. Rush | Salon

Camille Paglia is a liberal, feminist that writes for Salon.com. In a recent article she spoke against Obama’s incompetent staff and their attacks on Rush Limbaugh. Of noteworthy significance were the responses to this article. She was roasted over the liberal, hate-filled flames of hell.

Once again this demonstrates the left’s perception of love and compassion is actually deep-seated hate and compassionless disdain when one strays from the liberal path.

The message here is clear – Freedom of Speech is a wonderful thing, as long as it is coming from the left.
