Notre Dame Chooses Obama for Commencement Speech

In an act of direct defiance to the U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops, the University of Notre Dame extended the invitation Tuesday to U.S. President Barack Obama to deliver the commencement speech in May- and he accepted.

And why wouldn’t he? What better political capital than to have a staunch supporter of abortion and homosexual marriage speak at the world’s most premier Catholic institution of higher education. The fact Notre Dame would even contemplate having him at the school, let alone allow him to speak his anti-Catholic views, is absolutely egregious. All Christians should be outraged.

Since the announcement was made Tuesday, an online petition has been formulated in protest addressed to Father Jenkins, President of the University of Notre Dame. Thus far, over 140,000 signatures have been collected.
